Butterflies and Frogs

This page shows some of my breeding work and species I'm currently working with. I am concentrating on British and Europen species and not so much tropical this year

Breeding butterfies and moths is a great hobby and sometimes a challenge to get everything right. Spring and summer are very busy times with raising larvae and encouraging adults to mate and lay eggs. I use pop up cages and also my polytunnel in the garden.
Quite often I may be seen out collecting leaves to feed larvae, especially if they have eaten all what I have growing for them at home.

I will update this page with species I am rearing/breeding. Some are easy and great for beginners and others need a little more work with trying different techniques. One of the great interests in butterflies is encouraging them into your garden as everyone loves to see butterflies and bees etc in the summer. My garden is always full of flowers planted for pollinators and often host plants for caterpillars.
